Cheomseongdae is located in the south of  [ShaByol] City hall. Literally meaning is Gazing Star Tower, which is known as the oldest standing astronomical observatory. This bottle-shaped structure was built in 647(?) in SihnLuo Dynasty. SamGukSaGi, the oldest history book in Corea, says that at Cheomseongdae, scientists studied stars and planets such as Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn.
